I may have put up a picture of an owl but Brain Sponge Blog has more closely resembled a duck in the last couple of weeks. Seemingly quiet on the surface but working frantically underneath!
Accepting the award
You may have noticed a touch of bling on the site. Last Thursday, Brain Sponge Blog won the gold medal in the Best Education & Science Personal Blog category of the Blog Awards Ireland 2015! I secretly allowed myself the hope that the blog might come in the silver or bronze place but never thought that gold was a possibility. Considering the opposition, I was honoured to have made the finalists’ list, let alone come away with the award! I would like to congratulate The Herpetological Society of Ireland and Dr How’s Science Wows for winning the Silver and Bronze respectively. Their blogs are very much worth a visit. I would also like to offer my congratulations to all of the winners on the night and indeed to all of the finalists. If you are on the look out for a good read you should start with these lists of Irish blogging talent!
The awards event itself was fantastic. Themed as a Burlesque/Speakeasy night it seamlessly incorporated an entertaining night in its own right with a blogging award ceremony. Congratulations to all involved, it was a triumph. As promised Mrs BrainSponge got her night out dancing!
So what’s up for this week? Brain Sponge Blog was nominated by Fabiola Of Mexico for an Infinity Dreams Award and the acceptance post for that is long overdue. Also, after getting new exposure and gaining new readers the last thing a blog should do is write a potentially divisive and controversial post … so, you can expect that on Thursday!
Thanks to everyone who voted in the shortlist stage and thanks to all of you that read the blog. I’m a very chuffed blogger.
